At NMF, we don’t just distribute pamphlets. Our IEC field teams live in the communities they serve — holding group sessions in courtyards, visiting households on foot, running waste-literacy assessments, and building relationships that create lasting behaviour change around the three-bin segregation system.

Evidence-Driven Methodology
Every program starts with a Waste Literacy Index (WLI) survey. We measure awareness gaps before we enter a community, and again at the end to prove real change.

How We Reach Every Corner of Mysuru
From Gram Panchayats to corporate campuses, each NMF awareness program is tailored to its audience — with distinct entry points, formats, and measurable outcomes.
NMF's primary IEC vehicle. Field teams — led by trained women SHG mobilisers — conduct door-to-door visits, group sessions, and BCC material distribution to build household waste-segregation habits. Running at Siddalingapura Grama Panchayat under a 5-year MoU (2025–2030), Jagruti uses a structured Waste Literacy Index (WLI) survey to measure every household's awareness before and after intervention.

Hasiru Shale (meaning "Green School" in Kannada) embeds waste literacy directly into the school curriculum. Student-led Eco Clubs are trained and supported to run in-school waste segregation drives, plantation activities, and peer-to-peer awareness sessions that ripple outward into homes. This program turns young students into the most persuasive environmental ambassadors a family can have.

We bring the Zero Waste conversation into corporate campuses — conducting structured waste-awareness workshops, segregation audits, and ESG onboarding sessions for employees. Chamundi Hill, Mysore Palace, and Kabini — where millions of citizens and tourists generate millions of tonnes of littered waste. NMF's Swachh Paramparik awareness drives combine hands-on cleaning events with live IEC at these high-footfall heritage and wildlife sites. We've partnered with INTACH, the Chamundi Hill Development Authority, and the Karnataka Forest Department to sensitise visitors at the source — before they litter.

In 2025, NMF released a 7-part bilingual (Kannada & English) dry waste awareness video series in partnership with Mysuru City Corporation — reaching tens of thousands of citizens on YouTube, WhatsApp, and social media. Our digital IEC team also produces animated explainers, AR waste journey demos for tablet-based field use, and gamified Swachh Points content to drive household engagement. Beyond city limits, NMF runs structured IEC programs in Gram Panchayat jurisdictions — working directly with elected GP representatives and women self-help groups to introduce the three-bin system in villages that have never received formal waste management training. Our Siddalingapura GP program (5-year MoU, 2025–2030) is a live blueprint for how Swachh Bharat Mission objectives can be achieved through community-led awareness rather than top-down mandates.
