When a Village Leads, the Future Follows
Siddalingapura Gram Panchayat and Namma Mysore Foundation(R) have joined hands to create a cleaner, greener, and healthier future — starting from the heart of the community.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards transforming Siddhalingapura into a model village for sustainable living. Together, we are introducing structured waste management systems, community-led clean-up drives, and educational programs that empower residents to take charge of their environment.
With a focus on effective waste segregation, responsible recycling, and environmental restoration, the initiative aims to eliminate open dumping, promote the 3R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), and ensure that every household actively contributes to a zero-waste future.
By combining local leadership, citizen participation, and modern environmental practices, this partnership is not just cleaning streets — it’s building a culture of responsibility and pride that will inspire other communities across Mysuru and beyond.
Namma Mysore Foundation® (NMF), in collaboration with the Siddalingapura Gram Panchayat, has undertaken several initiatives to transform the village into a model for cleanliness and sustainability. Regular clean-up drives have been conducted to remove waste from public spaces and prevent open dumping. Waste segregation awareness campaigns have been carried out in schools and communities, encouraging residents to separate wet and dry waste at source.
To enhance the beauty and health of the environment, NMF volunteers have planted saplings along the main roads, improved waste collection points, and engaged villagers in maintaining clean surroundings. These efforts aim not only to create a cleaner Siddalingapura today but to build a lasting culture of environmental responsibility for future generations.

Waste Segregation Awareness Sessions in Rural Schools
As a part of awareness initiatives, several interactive and message-oriented sessions were conducted in schools, local areas, and homes across Siddhalingapura to educate students, residents, and families on waste segregation and sustainable practices.
Siddalingapura Village, located on the outskirts of Mysuru, is a growing rural hub known for its strong cultural roots and vibrant community life. The village lanes connect households, schools, markets, and community gathering points, making it a lively place of interaction. As part of the Clean Future initiative, Namma Mysore Foundation (NMF) has collaborated with the Siddalingapura Gram Panchayat to bring systematic changes in waste management and beautification efforts in the village.
NMF has taken proactive steps in Siddalingapura to promote source-level segregation of waste, reduce open dumping, and encourage every household to adopt sustainable practices. To strengthen community participation, awareness programs were conducted in schools, homes, and local gathering spots, inspiring children and residents to become agents of change.
Beautification works were also carried out in key areas of the village, including roadside plantation, installation of saplings, and maintaining common public spaces. These green initiatives not only provide a refreshing sight for residents but also create a sense of pride in the community. By combining cleanliness with beautification, Siddalingapura sets an example for how rural areas can contribute to Mysuru’s vision of being one of the cleanest and most sustainable regions in India.

As part of the initiative, regular waste collection drives were organized, and overgrown weeds along streets and public areas were cleared. Sanitation workers, guided by NMF volunteers, actively removed accumulated plastic, bottles, and solid waste from busy lanes and community spaces.
In addition, awareness programs were conducted in schools, local areas, and households to ensure people understood the importance of waste segregation at source, reducing single-use plastics, and keeping their surroundings clean.
To enhance the environment, saplings were planted along the main roads and near community spaces, adding greenery and promoting long-term sustainability. These combined efforts not only improved the village’s cleanliness but also strengthened the spirit of collective responsibility among residents.
The Clean Future Initiative in Siddalingapura today stands as a shining example of how community collaboration and volunteer efforts can rejuvenate villages and set new benchmarks in sustainable rural development.
